SERA Eden is situated within the courtyard of a mansion formerly owned by the Bratianu family, centrally located in Bucharest. It shares its borders with the embassies of Vietnam and Hungary, and a greenhouse lies just beyond the backyard fence. Inspired by this unique neighborhood, our vision led us to transform an existing structure into a stunning glass house.

Given that Vietnam's Embassy land rightfully belongs to Vietnam, we embraced the natural growth of bamboo along its border. A pipe scaffolding reinforces the characteristic greenhouse structure. Corrugated metal sheets, chosen for a few opaque walls, impart a sense of lightness and provisional construction. The flooring, a textured brick, sets the stage for the main attraction – a bar counter crafted from thick white marble and its’ stainless steel finish, discreetly nodding to the world of cocktails and spirits.

Landscaping serves as the soul of this project. Defying the traditional lines dictated by the building, we opted for sinuous organic shapes, deliberately contrasting the existing historical structure and the geometric glass house. These organic forms will seamlessly integrate with the flourishing wild and exotic vegetation—bamboo and ginko biloba—in the years to come, creating a labyrinthine path for visitors to explore.
